This Privacy Notice explains how the European Master for High Performance Computing (EUMaster4HPC) consortium collects, uses, and protects personal data provided by applicants and registered users of the EUMaster4HPC Application Platform.
The platform is used for:
- Registering as a user
- Submitting applications to the EUMaster4HPC dual degree master’s programme
- Uploading required documents
- Monitoring the progress of your application
The EUMaster4HPC consortium is committed to ensuring the protection of your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable national data protection laws.

When you register and apply via the platform, we collect and process the following types of data:
a) Identification and Contact Information
- First name and last name
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Nationality (and second nationality, if applicable)
- Email address
- Home address
- Phone number
b) Academic and Professional Background
- Degree title and awarding university
- Country of graduation and graduation year
- Mathematics and computer science background
- Relevant course information and transcripts
c) Supporting Documents
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Cover letter / motivational letter
- Degree certificates and academic transcripts (official and translated versions)
- English proficiency certificate (if applicable)
- Passport or EU ID card (for identification)
d) Application-Related Data
- University preferences and rankings
- Application status and progress
- System-generated registration and submission logs
4. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing
Your personal data are processed for the following purposes and based on the corresponding legal bases under the GDPR:

5. Data Recipients
Your data may be shared only with:
- Partner universities in the EUMaster4HPC consortium
- EUMaster4HPC selection and administrative teams
- Funding authorities (e.g. EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, European Commission)
- Technical service providers hosting the platform under GDPR-compliant agreements
Your personal data will not be shared for marketing or unrelated purposes.
6. Data Retention
- Unsuccessful applications: retained for up to 2 years after the selection period.
- Admitted students: retained for the duration of the programme and up to 5 years after completion.
- Account and log data: retained for 12 months after your last login, unless required otherwise by law.
After these periods, your data will be securely deleted or anonymised.
7. Data Transfers
Data may be transferred between consortium partners located within the EU/EEA.
No data is transferred outside the EU/EEA unless adequate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) are applied in compliance with Chapter V of the GDPR.
8. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access and obtain a copy of your data
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances
- Request data portability
- Object to processing based on legitimate or public interests
- Lodge a complaint with your national authority or the Commission Nationale pour la Protection des Données (CNPD) in Luxembourg
