What is EUMaster4HPC?
EUMaster4HPC is the first pan-European Master’s programme in High Performance Computing. It brings together the major players in HPC education in Europe to train the next generation of highly skilled and talented HPC experts to drive the European digital transformation!
Enrolling in the EUMaster4HPC programme grants you access to workshops, challenges, an internship, and a summer school, providing invaluable practical experience. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in prominent European HPC events, helping to foster a strong network within the European HPC community, which includes industry, research institutions, and supercomputing centres.

EUMaster4HPC Overview
EUMaster4HPC is an HPC European consortium leading educational activities, funded by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking to design and implement the first pan-European High Performance Computing (HPC) Master programme. EUMaster4HPC is composed of European universities, research/supercomputing centres and industrial partners with the mission of defining a joint curriculum in HPC across Europe and creating a collaborative network leveraging and strengthening the European ecosystem in HPC.
- A quality-controlled and innovative educational master’s programme for HPC and industrial applications in HPC with pan-European reach.
- Expected and necessary expertise to enhance and develop technical and transversal skills, enabling to become leader in the HPC field.
- A sustainable network encompassing universities, research centers, supercomputing centres (SCCs), private organisations, industry experts, centres of excellence (CoEs), and HPC-related entities.

Knowledge
- Declarative and methodological knowledge in mathematical modelling and algorithms.
- Specialised, up-to-date procedural, declarative and methodological knowledge in statistics, parallel programming and parallel architecture.
- Advanced research topics and applications in high performance computing for science and engineering.
Skills
- Applied and research skills in artificial intelligence, high-performance data analytics, computational linear algebra, statistics, optimisation and scientific computing.
- Skills encompassing parallel programming, distributed systems, middleware technologies, software engineering, compilers and parallel programming design.
- Advanced capabilities in processors and HPC architecture design, memory hierarchy, pipelined and superscalar processors, I/O, storage, networking and cloud design and deployment.
- Transversal/soft skills and competencies to facilitate integration into the job market, develop research topics and write proposals, and critically evaluate problem-solving and analytical skills.
Competences
- Generate innovative ideas and develop procedures to tackle complex, unpredictable challenges in HPC.
- Quickly adapt to multicultural work environments and comprehend the operations of public and private entities.
- Work independently with a proactive approach, exhibiting strong self-direction and effective time management competences.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject, computer science, or a related field. Please refer to the list of required bachelor degrees.
- Proficiency in programming, demonstrated by the completion of at least two university-level computer science courses covering topics such as data structures, algorithms, and programming.
- A solid foundation in technical mathematics, including subjects like algebra, probability, statistics, optimisation, and scientific computing. Please include a list of at least four relevant courses in your application.
- English proficiency at the CEFR B2 level. You will need to provide a 85 score on the TOEFL or 5 score on the IELTS, obtained within the last two years.
- Students are required to relocate for the second year of the master’s programme, as mobility is essential to the learning experience.

- Letter of motivation.
- Academic transcripts.
- University diploma: If your studies are still in progress, provide an official certificate issue by your university, stating the expected completion date.
- Certification of proficiency in English: Please refer to entry requirements.
- Copy of passport / ID card.
Please note that any document written in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified translation in English.
